Stadium School - Education project

 Stadium School
(planned for 2011)
Spending your days at school working on maths, English, art and geography may not be that exciting for some children in the class. But what if now and then you could have your lessons somewhere a bit different....like a football stadium?

AFC Wimbledon's Stadium School project provides a stimulating alternative that places key stage learning in a 'real-world' setting. Working closely with the staff of participating schools, appropriately designed modules will cover a range of subjects and allow the children to put their skills to good use. The mathematics modules might ask how high the floodlights are; how fast a ball can be kicked or how long  it take might take to mow the pitch. Artists might be asked to design a new strip or design a school banner. Writers might be asked to write a 75 word description of an exciting video clip for the local newspaper and historians might learn a little about heraldry by looking at the Wimbledon badge and crest. Of course there will be time for a tour behind the scenes and to try your shooting skills in the inflatable range!

Stadium School will provide fun and interest for all participants but we hope it will be of special benefit to those who enjoy football and who might usually be hard to engage with more academic subjects.

The President's Lounge will be available for the eating of packed lunches and AFC Wimbledon will provide transport to and from the school. A number of days will be available throughout the year and details will be posted over the next few weeks.
